Michigan Online Gambling Start Dates by Game Type
Michigan launched regulated online gambling on 29 January 2021. Since then the market has expanded to include several new operators and game formats. Below is a breakdown of when each vertical became available to Michigan residents.
Online Casino Games
Slot machines, table games, and video poker went live on day one. BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel Casino were the first three skins to accept real-money wagers from in-state IP addresses.
Online Poker
The PokerStars MI app launched on 29 January 2021, followed by WSOP.com MI and BetMGM Poker. All three platforms share liquidity across state lines with New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Online Sports Betting
Mobile sportsbooks opened on the same day as casino games. Retail sportsbooks had already been operating since March 2020, but the online channel created statewide access.
Daily Fantasy Sports
DFS operators such as DraftKings and FanDuel were already active before 2021 under pre-existing fantasy-contest rules and did not require new launch dates.
